Thank you for sharing this. It is very useful. Reading this article Alain De Klerk http://www.alaindeklerk.com/document-id-hyperlink-with-qr-code-for-sharepoint-2010/ the idea of changing the URL reference from the document name to the document ID helps to make 2 improvements.

1. As someone commenting the document name could reveal something of the subject of the document. The document ID would help keep the subject matter unknown.

2. As Alain's points out the document ID accounts for the document if it is moved. The document name does not.

I am a little tentative about making this change myself but, I thought I would point it out as it would seem to be an easy change to make.

Change the URL Link

FROM: http://<site>/<path>/<document.name>

TO: http://<site>/_layouts/DocIdRedir.aspx?ID=<document ID>

Once I activate the feature, and click the Short Link, it generates this error.
